Moenchengladbach vs Barcelona

Barcelona come into this encounter already sitting pretty at the top of their group and will know that they have a great chance to take the group lead ahead of Manchester City with a solid victory tonight. Barcelona have relied a lot of their scoring in recent times on Luis Suarez and Neymar who come into this game with 3 goals combined on the weekend. That should help elevate tensions of the Barca faithful who think that the team needs to depend sorely on Messi, who is injured for this encounter. Barcelona will also rely on the creativity of players like Turan, Iniesta and Rakitic along with the full backs Alba and Roberto to create enough chances for the front two to score. Defensively Barcelona have been struggling especially in recent times since Bravo has left them, conceding in 3 out of their last 5 games. There could be an opportunity to be exposed, which Barcelona will have to outscore Gladbach to win the tie then.

Celtic vs Man City

Celtic were humiliated by Barcelona in their Champions League group stage opener, but they will not be as easy to beat this time around. Celtic Park will be packed with more than 60,000 fans that always create a special atmosphere for European nights, and the team will be motivated to show that the Barca loss was a coincidence, not the true quality of the side. Celtic travelled to Camp Nou in the opening matchday and were demolished 7-0 at the hands of Barcelona. Since then they’ve scored 10 goals in their last 3 matches (8 at home). They have a magnificent home record coming into this match, with just 1 loss in their last 20 home matches (failed to score just once in their last 20 home matches).

AC Milan vs Lazio

Both teams come into this match having won at the weekend, but neither side has been particularly impressive in the first few weeks of the new Serie A campaign.
AC Milan have only won once at home since February, which suggests it could be tough for them to take the points here, although they do have a very good head-to-head record in this fixture.
Lazio’s win at San Siro in the Coppa Italia in 2015 bucked the trend of their unimpressive results away to AC Milan, having won just one of their 16 visits to the ground to take on Tuesday’s opponents.
But a 3-0 win over Pescara at the weekend will have boosted confidence going into this game, while AC Milan could only beat Sampdoria 1-0 as Vincenzo Montella’s men continue to stumble in Serie A.

Alaves vs Deportivo La Coruna

Alaves stunned the Camp Nou last weekend by beating Barcelona 2-1. For a side that is appearing in the top flight for the first time in a decade that was some achievement and given they’ve also already visited the Vicente Calderon, it’s almost miraculous that they still boast an unbeaten record. They’ve shown they can cut it when their backs are against the wall but a 0-0 draw in their opening home game against Sporting Gijon wasn’t quite what they were after. They didn’t score a lot of goals in the Segunda Division last term and although their side has changed considerably since then, there are still some doubts about how they will break down the more cautiously-minded teams.

Chelsea vs Liverpool

Chelsea sit second in the Premier League table after their disappointing 2-2 draw against Swansea last weekend and now entertain a hot-scoring Liverpool side tonight. Antonio Conte’s sides have generally been extremely dependant on good defenders and a solid defensive midfielder but despite having that, Chelsea have conceded goals in 4 out of 5 competitive fixtures played till date. The absence of John Terry will also add the woes; although new signing David Luiz should slot right in, he is very prone to mistakes that could see Liverpool attackers take an advantage of. Up front Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi have shown great form to start the season, and it won’t be surprising if Conte decides to start both strikers up front today especially against a weaker Liverpool defensive unit.

Porto vs Copenhagen

Porto come into this tie of the UEFA Champions League after battling it out in the 3rd round qualifying in order to get to this stage. They have prepared well for this encounter by getting off to a strong 3-0 win on the weekend against Vitoria in preparation for this game. They have been in great scoring form so far this season, finding the back of the net 12 times in their last 6 games, primarily led by the great form of Andre Silva. The Portuguese side will be looking to get off to a good start against a Copenhagen side who have not had the best of success at this stage of the competition. Porto will want to use their strong home form in the Champions League where they have beaten sides like Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Basel, Maccabi Tel Aviv and will want to add their Danish opponents as another scalp tonight.

They have strengthened the squad extremely well this season signing up Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic, Dani Alves, Juan Cuadrado, Marko Pjaca and Medhi Benatia to strength all across the pitch. The team have started out the new season in fantastic fashion in the league dominating over the pitch and winning all 3 of their games so far. With the squad Juventus had last year and even this year, they should be able to walk through the Italian Serie A and will have their full aim set on this tournament. Since the 2013-14 season, Juventus have not lost a single game on their home patch. They were able to successful navigate a strong 2-0 win against Sevilla in the first round last year, and will be aiming to put in a similar performance again.
