Aue barely escaped the relegation last season in second tier of German football and looking at their results during the preparational period, it was obvious that the side will be having difficulties again. However start into the new season wasn’t that bad for now, as the team has seven points in five rounds which might be a bit above expectations.
Still, there is no room for excitement or anything like that, since everyone knows that the season is more than long. In the most recent game, players of Aue managed to surprise and come with a three pointer on the road to Ingolstadt, playing very smart and being very concrete with the ball to their feet. Kopke brought them into the lead in 15th minute, while the hosts had more of the ball possession and were searching for an equalizer, but the guests scored second at the start of repetition via Bertram, while the players of Ingolstadt only managed to reduce the deficit in 84th via Lezcano, being without enough time to respond further.
Home team continues to miss midfielder Adler who is long term absentee and without performing so far in the season. Defender Hertner (5/0) is doubtful for this one, same as midfielder Soukou (2/1).
Vitesse didn’t manage to get the title of Dutch Super Cup as they suffered defeat to Feyenoord only after penalty kicks series, however their start in the new season can be described as very good since the team has three victories and one defeat in first four rounds, standing currently at second position sharing with few more teams that position and being three points off from leaders from Feyenoord.
They have opened Eredivisie season with victories over Breda and Roda, then defeat in front of own fans against AZ Alkmaar came, but the side reacted perfectly well after the international break with a 3:0 victory over Excelsior. It was perfectly deserved victory for the players of Vitesse, who stood on the field as a way more mature side and took the lead in 45th minute via Castaignos. With a second goal added in 53rd from the penalty kick via Matavz, they played even more openly and secured the victory with a goal from Linssen in 74th minute, while their opponents did almost nothing in attack.
Defender Kruiswijk (3/0) is injured, same as midfielder Serero (3/0). Midfielder Ali is doubtful for this one.
Tottenham hadn’t enjoyed a great season at Wembley last season losing 2 out of their 3 games in their temporary home in football. This season in Wembley also didn’t start out too well either with Tottenham failing to get a victory in a single game so far this season. While Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen have started out in good early season form with goals and assists to kick start their campaign off in good form. Tottenham’s solid 3-0 victory against Everton on this weekend, should give them plenty of confidence to find the back of the net in this game. Defensively, Tottenham have showed signs of cracks with the wider pitch at Wembley seeing the wingers of the oppositions get in behind them to put in crosses and score goals behind them much like Alonso, Brady and Moses did in their games against them.
Olympiakos made a decent start in the new season, as they progressed to Champions League group stage overcoming Partizan and Rijeka and started Greek Super League with two victories, over AEL Larissa and Lamia, but the side made a setback last weekend when they visited Xanthi and stood with just a point taken in a 1:1 draw on Saturday evening.
True, their performances weren’t in previous matches at the best possible level, but now the side paid the first price – they took the lead in 12th minute with a goal from Engels, but weren’t that effective in attack and didn’t move the ball well in the midfeild, as the hosts leveled up the result in 43rd via Lisgaras and conitnued being quite threatening on counter attacks mostly. They continued being first at the table together with AEK now, but some gaps in their play were obvious and they might pay the price in Europe later on.
Central defender Jagos Vukovic is injured for the Greek side, with Jacques-Alaixys Romao probably replacing him together with Bjorn Engels in defense. They should be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Djurdjevic as lone striker, plus Seba, Marin and Pardo as offensive midfielders.
Lazio host Milan in the capital aiming to build on their early season start which saw them win the Italian Super Cup and also get a draw and 1 win from their 2 team in Serie A to start the campaign. A strong showing away from home to beat Chievo by a score of 2-1, will do wonders to build confidence back in the team as they search for a top 4 finish to qualify for the Champions League. Lazio will rely on their forwards Immobile and Cacicedo to hit on the goals against a strong Milan defense that last week leaked their first goal in Serie A. Midfielders Lulic, Lucas, Savic and possibly Nani will need to be on their A game in order to use the home crowd advantage to beat the Milan outfit.
One month ago, Eupen made a good match against Club Brugge.
Eupen missed the quality in scoring but in rest, played very well. Had a possesion of 47% to 53%, shots on goal 4-5 and about the same goal attempts that were 13-8 in favor for Brugge.
The difference of value was 63 millions to 13,90 millions in favor for Brugge and Eupen played away. Quite decent performances.
In rest, Eupen lacks goals scoring in general. They got only 4 goals scored so far and 14 received. They are the lowest scoring team of Jupiler and the weakest among Oostende on away averages. It doesnt seems that they will remain too long in this mood because both away legs were hard. Lokeren and Club Brugge.
Waasland Beveren instead does better on away side than on home field. Mechelen scored twice here and Lokeren scored 3 goals. In both matches Waasland scored twice and gained one point, from Mechelen.
France host Holland in a round of World Cup qualifying with the aim of securing a spot on the plane to Russia. To start of this campaign they have won 4 and draw 1 out of their 6 games with 13 points; level with Sweden at this stage. France will come into this game with a strong team that should start this encounter against Holland with the likes of Greizmann, Lacazette, Pogba, Matuidi, Kante among their attacking lineup that should start this game. In the 6 games so far, France have scored 11 goals, with just one match against Belarus seeing them draw 0-0. In their last qualifying match, they were upset 2-1 by Sweden; and will be looking to improve on their performance especially on the 1-0 win against Holland earlier in the campaign.
Trelleborg come into this encounter with some superb form behind them, that has helped them to march to 4th place the table, just 2 points behind the 3rd place position which will battle for promotion playoff. They come into this game winning 7 out of their last 8 matches and that has translated to their great position so far. They are lead up front by striker Camara-Jonsson who has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances so far (2nd highest scorer in the league). They have managed to find the net in 7 out of their last 8 games while also conceding in 9 straight games coming into this encounter tonight.
Zwolle opened the new season with a victory over Roda 4:2 at home, but also made a positive appearance last time out, as the team took a point in a 1:1 draw previous weekend away to Sparta Rotterdam. A point taken is a positive result for them, however the truth is that they were closer to obtain a three pointer and have nothing to be embarrassed about the performance.
They entered the game better and took the lead in 13th minute vi Mokhtar, however hosts reacted quickly and leveled up the result just ten minutes later via Muhren. Till the end of the match, the players of Zwolle looked a bit more concrete and maybe deserved something more, however lacked more passion and to be more concrete in last phase of the match. As for now, they are inside the play-off positions being currently sixth at the table and surely want another home victory. Home side will only be missing midfielder Wouter Marinus.
Villarreal come into this encounter against Real Sociedad hoping for a turn around in form after a poor start to the season after losing by a 1-0 scoreline late on to Levante despite dominating periods of the game. Villarreal wsold some of their key players from last season with the likes of Muchassio, Johnathon Dos Santos and Roberto Soldado being transferred out. Coming in they have signed some decent players like Fornals, Barca, Semedo, Unal and these players will take some time to adjust themselves in order to settle in. Villarreal will have to forget last week’s game and focus on their travels now against Real Sociedad.
