Atalanta vs Milan

Milan come into this encounter with an extremely slim chance of landing a Europa League spot; but with just 6 points separating them and tonight’s opponents Atalanta, it could bring them to within 3 points should they be able to land a victory tonight. Milan will be looking to take the attack to Atalanta through their attacking 4-3-3 formation that has delivered goals for them in recent weeks, but it is their defense that need to step up.

The likes of Suso, Duelofeu playing as the wingers of the attacking 3 along with along with full backs De Sciligo and Vangioni in the wide spot have been attacking at most opportunities that they can find. As a result they have been pumping in the corners hoping for the likes of Lapadula, Bacca, Zapata to try and score from those set pieces. The corners that they have generated in recent games read as follows: Roma (9), Crotone (11), Empoli (10), Inter (8), Palermo (8), Pescara (7), Genoa (5), Juventus (2), Chievo (11), Sassuolo (8), Fiorentina (3), Lazio (8), Bologna (9), Sampdoria (8), Udinese (7), Napoli (7), Torino (6), Cagliari (11) and previous meeting with Atalanta (6).
Atalanta come into the game leaking an average of 4.6 corners per game. While they have played throughout this season and are sitting in 5th spot in the table, they will be aiming to push for victories to try and get a spot higher with Lazio distracted with the Copa Italia commitments. Atalanta have been poor defensively in recent games conceding goals in 5 straight games which has seen them grab 4 draws and just 1 victory during the time. Against the better sides in the division, they tend to concede quite a few corners with the corner count reading: Juventus (10), Roma (11), Inter (6), Fiorentina (5), Napoli (7), Lazio (7) and their previous meeting with Milan (6).
With Milan netted 5 corners in 17 out of their last 19 encounters in Serie A; this seems like a no brainer to be backing Milan to get at least 5 corners considering they are playing away form home in search of goals and are pushing for a Europa League spot.
Milan Over 4.5 corners.
