Milan have started off the season in flying form after a solid 6-0 home victory in the Europa League on Thursday night which should give them some good confidence coming into this encounter especially since they are taking on a lower table team in Crotone. Milan have signed up 9 players for this campaign which is almost the entire squad. While they are happy to be back in Europe; the investment in players like Andre Silva, Leonardo Bonucci, Mateo Mussachio, Lucas Biglia, Franck Kessie, Hakan Calhanoglu, Andrea Conti and Ricardo Rodriguez shows how serious the new Chinese owners are to get back Milan to the glory days and start their campaign off with a victory. They have won their 3 Europa League games scoring 9 goals and not conceding a single one, which will give them confidence heading into this game against Crotone.
Crotone come into this season after barely surviving last year, landing up 17th out of 20 teams; and if you give them 17th for this season before it starts; I am sure that they will take it. The team don’t have many funds to strengthen so have gotten 3 players in loan and signed 2 players on a free. The fact that they had to give up loan player Diego Falcinelli who was their top scorer last season with 13 goals out of the total 34 they netted; will showcase the struggles they will have up front against this strong Milan defense. Their pre-season friendlies have come against lower league opposition, which is not the ideal preparation for them whereas Milan have already faced Atletico Madrid, Betis, Bayern and Dortmund in their friendlies in comparison.
I like Milan to win this game and should do it well; but I am expecting them to frustrate Crotone and win this game by a couple of goals; so I am backing Milan to win this on the Asian Handicap of -1.
