Tottenham vs Dortmund

Tottenham hadn’t enjoyed a great season at Wembley last season losing 2 out of their 3 games in their temporary home in football. This season in Wembley also didn’t start out too well either with Tottenham failing to get a victory in a single game so far this season. While Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen have started out in good early season form with goals and assists to kick start their campaign off in good form. Tottenham’s solid 3-0 victory against Everton on this weekend, should give them plenty of confidence to find the back of the net in this game. Defensively, Tottenham have showed signs of cracks with the wider pitch at Wembley seeing the wingers of the oppositions get in behind them to put in crosses and score goals behind them much like Alonso, Brady and Moses did in their games against them.

Dortmund come into the game after a goalless draw against Freiburg but have started out the campaign in good form as well. They sit at the top of the Bundesliga table with 2 wins and 1 draw in their 3 games played so far; and also got a DFB Pokal victory among their early season competitive fixtures. While they lost the Super Cup game to Bayern Munich; the team showed plenty of promise in front of goal despite losing young forward Dembele to Barcelona. Dortmund have since signed Yarmolenko who should fill in the void for the team. Not to mention the other talented players that Dortmund have including Mario Gotze, Christian Pulisic, Gonzalo Castro, Shinji Kagawa, Max Phillip among the midfielders and wide players who could create a strong impact. All hopes would rely on their talismanic forward Aubamayeng who resisted many temptations to get transferred to stay with Dortmund and lead their line for them. Aubamayeng has already scored 6 goals in 5 games that Dortmund has played so far this campaign. His pace on the ball is something that really separates him from the rest, and that might be a bit of trouble for Vertonghen and Alderweireld who will constantly playing a high line hoping he doesn’t pass them.
This game should be a great one for the neutrals as both teams will want to get off to a solid victory to have the advantage for 2nd spot to progress to the next stages of the tournament with Real Madrid all but assured one of the spots.
