Vitesse didn’t manage to get the title of Dutch Super Cup as they suffered defeat to Feyenoord only after penalty kicks series, however their start in the new season can be described as very good since the team has three victories and one defeat in first four rounds, standing currently at second position sharing with few more teams that position and being three points off from leaders from Feyenoord.
They have opened Eredivisie season with victories over Breda and Roda, then defeat in front of own fans against AZ Alkmaar came, but the side reacted perfectly well after the international break with a 3:0 victory over Excelsior. It was perfectly deserved victory for the players of Vitesse, who stood on the field as a way more mature side and took the lead in 45th minute via Castaignos. With a second goal added in 53rd from the penalty kick via Matavz, they played even more openly and secured the victory with a goal from Linssen in 74th minute, while their opponents did almost nothing in attack.
Defender Kruiswijk (3/0) is injured, same as midfielder Serero (3/0). Midfielder Ali is doubtful for this one.
Lazio, on the other side, comes from a really important and impressive victory in front of own fans against AC Milan as they managed to battle out 4:1 victory last Sunday evening. It was overall very open game and players of Milan had their own chances too, but the hosts used their situations in front of opponents goal much better, getting the double lead via Immobile with goals towards the end of the first halftime.
They scored twice more at the start of the second halftime, within five minutes via Immobile again and Alberto, while players of Lazio left the ball possession to the visiting side that was dangerous, but only managed to reduce the deficit via Montolivo in 56th minute. Lazio is now sharing fourth position together with Torino with two victories and one draw, being two points off from leading trio of Juventus, Napoli and Inter.
Guests will probably rest couple of players, while defender Wallace (3/0), midfielders Nani (0/0) and Felipe Anderson (0/0) are all injured and out.
Vitesse is in a difficult group here and can’t afford to lose this one. They do have certain quality, but the Italians surely remain more than slight favorite for this one. However, I believe that the Dutch side can also show their offensive quality, while Lazio alone, even if they rotate the squad a bit, can score three here.
