When Roma hosts Verona at their Stadio Olimpico tonight, they will be trying to maintain their Champions League spot.
The Giallorossi are focused on finishing in the top four, and we should be aware that they are currently riding a three-game home winning streak before Verona visits.
In contrast to fellow midfielder Leonardo Spinazzola, who is still recovering from an injury, the Dutch international Georginio Wijnaldum is competing for a spot in the starting lineup.
The Veronians, meanwhile, have just begun to show indications of development as they have recently defeated Lecce and Salernitana and shared the spoils with Udinese and Lazio.
Yet, Verona is not known for being a good travelers, which is perhaps the major reason I will bet on the capital club this time.

Roma vs Verona ✅
The Romans narrowly escaped from a defeat in their last fixture away to Sassuolo when they managed to pull out a 2:2 draw.
They took the lead first from the penalty just before halftime but faced some difficulties in the continuation, as they scored their own at the begging of the second and conceded later in the 73rd.
However, the guests did gain a numerical advantage on the field five minutes later, and with a certain dose of luck, denied the host with a victory here, as they managed to equalize in practically the last seconds of the encounter.
Roma is currently at the 7th spot in the overall standings, having four points less than Europa League positioned Atalanta.
Left full-back Spinazzola is a long-term absentee, with central defender Ibanez(23/3) and offensive midfielder El Shaarawy (18/2) also being out. Suspended remains central-back Mancini (24/0). Forwards Shomurodov (19/2) and Perez (12/0) are doubtful.

Sassuolo vs Roma ✅
Sassuolo is coming to this clash after being eliminated from Coppa Italia last Thursday on the road against Juventus when they were closely outplayed with a 2:1.
They were considered as a serious underdog, but even so, put up with a more than decent fight. The guests conceded first early in the 3rd, but successfully bounced back and equalized over Traore in the 24th.
Sassuolo was generally pushed back when the match moved to the second but managed to withstand the pressure almost till the end, unfortunately lacking a bit of luck here, as Tressoldi scored his own goal late in the 88th minute after a great individual effort from Vlahovic.
Sassuolo holds the 12th spot in the Serie A rankings, currently not being in a position to enter the European race.
Forwards Raspadori (24/7) and Scamacca (23/9) are both suspended for this one. Offensive midfielder Djuricic (9/2) remains injured.

They conceded first in the 22nd, but yet again showed their enviable persistency and equalized over Miranchuk in the late phase of the first part. The guests performed with more aggression in the continuation, adding one more to the scoreline later in the 62nd over Koopmeiners, and deservedly celebrated in this encounter.
Atalanta is currently at the 3rd spot in the overall standings, only three points in deficit compared to the leaders from Inter.

Roma met the expectations in their last away clash against underdogs from Cagliari when they took a much-needed 1:2 victory.
The Romans had the upper hand during the first part, but failed to materialize their better appearance, and were punished in the 52nd over Pavoletti. However, this fired the red alarm for the visitors, who managed to completely reverse over Ibanez and Pellegrini, and finally broke their winless streak in all competitions.
Roma is at the 4th spot in the Serie A rankings, having nineteen points out of ten matches played so far in the campaign.

Lazio vs Roma
Lazio failed to be more creative last time out on the road against Torino when they barely escaped defeat and took a point in a 1:1 draw.
Not much action has been seen up until the last fifteen minutes when the hosts took the lead over Pjaca, but luckily for the Roman visitors, they were provided with the penalty in the injury time and after a perfect execution by Immobile, settled the final result in this encounter.
Lazio holds the 7th spot in the overall rankings, having only one point less than European-placed Fiorentina.
Offensive midfielder Zaccagni (2/0) should be the only absentee for the hosts.

Roma vs Ajax
Roma positively surprised in their last European match on the road to Amsterdam, as they managed to be victorious over Ajax with a 1:2 result, in a very interesting and dynamic clash.
They were visibly pushed back during the first part and went on a break with a 1:0 deficit. Things could get much worse for the visitors from Italy, as the hosts missed a penalty in the 53rd, but with a great game in transition, Roma successfully managed to turn the result in their favor with goals over Pellegrini in the 57th and Ibanez in the 87th minute and punished the home side for their lack of sharpness at the finishing.
The Italians will miss suspended defensive midfielder Peres (24/1), plus injured central-back Kumbulla (16/1). Doubtful for the moment are central defender Smalling (14/0) and full-back Spinazzola (26/2).
