Plíšková will definitely win the first set (@ 1.36) and break first (@ 1.50). But I will back her to win in straight sets here. She is really feeling it here in Eastbourne and is playing outstanding tennis.
Those aces flying down from her 6′ 1” height are unreturnable and her shot placement and composure are too smooth at the moment. Alexandrova is developing into a very good player but in this tournament, this is how far it will go, she will be happy to pack her bags for Wimbledon after getting to play a Quater-Final against the World Number 3.
The first set should have a score of 6-2 or 6-3 in favour of Plíšková but the second set will be tough and competitive. Might be a 6-4 or 7-5.
While there is a massive level of quality difference between the two, it’s the serve that will allow Plíšková to control the match. Alexandrova has a lot of work to be done in her service game and Plíšková will be punishing her weak second serves and in fact her average first serves.
Alexandrova win over Bencic was kinda lucky as Bencic was fatigued from playing too many matches in a run. Jeļena Ostapenko also had to withdraw and didn’t seem fit enough allowing Alexandrova to reach the QFs.
“We played just once, but we had some practices in the past. So I quite know she can be dangerous, too. She hits flat shots fast. But I think if I continue to play like I was playing, it’s not probably gonna be like today, but it should be fine,” Plíšková’s words when questioned about this match.
