Championship game for me in a game that will be played at Villa Park and will kick off at 15:00 UK time. The game will be played between Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.
The home side I have seen a few times this season, very recently vs Rotherham United where they were victorious 2-0 thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Yannick Bolasie. It was Tammy Abraham’s first goal for the club and it came on his home debut. Aston Villa were always going to beat Rotherham, their squad this season is insane and for me they have the best squad in the entire league. Bolasie is far too good for the Championship and should be playing Premiership football in my opinion.
Villa have been lining up with a formation similar to a 4-4-2d it seems to be working quite well. They currently lie in 7th in the table and a win could see them push up the table and aim towards to the top 2 places as many fans expect of them this year. They’ve currently won 3 games, drawn 4 and lost just 1. They have bagged 14 goals and have conceded 12 in just 8 games so far in the league.
What stands out to me most is the fact that without John Terry at the back, Villa look liable to concede goals and for them to have conceded 12 goals from 8 games is high. 7 of their 8 games has seen both teams score, rarely do the fans see a lack of goals.
Their opponents for the day are South Yorkshire side Sheffield Wednesday, they didn’t start this season as well as they would have liked, however, they have started to get their season back on track and have managed 3 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats in 8 games. They find themselves just 2 points behind opponents Aston Villa and know that a win here will see them overtake the Birmingham side.
Again, like Villa, Sheffield Wednesday fans have seen their side finish with both teams scoring in 6 out of their 8 league games so far this season. Their last 5 games has seen goals for either side. Their last outing was vs Nottingham Forest and the game ended 2-1 in favour of Forest. It was a late Fletcher goal that gave the Owls fans little hope.
I expect there to be goals in either net in this game and think it could be a wide open game. Both sides have a lot to play for and as a result I think it will see goals.
