The Belgians did their job in their last clash of the Nations League campaign when they defeated Iceland on the road with a 1:2 result.
The visitors took the lead first in the 9th minute over Lukaku, but the home side responded with an equalizer only eight minutes later. The Belgian national team had the initiative, managing to score another one again over Lukaku, who was effective from the penalty in the 38th minute. The game rhythm significantly decreased as the match progressed, and with both sides looking too passive in this part, it was not surprising that we didn’t see more goals.
Belgium, overly looking, is probably the best team in a group with Denmark, England, and Iceland, deservedly positioned at the leading place with nine points out of four matches.
They will miss defender Castagne (11/2, Leicester), midfielders Saelemaekers (1/0, Milan), Carrasco (44/6, Atletico Madrid), forwards Eden Hazard (106/32, Real Madrid) and Origi (29/3, Liverpool) compared to previous call-ups.
The national team of England made a setback in the last clash against visitors from Denmark when they suffered an unexpected 0:1 loss.
They entered the match a bit insecurely, not appearing as dominating as they should. Having a player less on the pitch since the 32nd, made their job even harder, and with a goal conceded from the penalty three minutes later, their defeat was just behind the corner. They showed little in the continuation of the match, which went by in a slightly more aggressive visiting side, that successfully preserved their minimal lead.
England is positioned at 3rd place in the group, having the imperative to improve its performance against a superior opponent in the upcoming clash.
The English will miss defender James (4/0, Chelsea), Alexander-Arnold (12/1, Liverpool), Gomez (11/0, Liverpool), midfielder Ward-Prowse (4/0, Southampton), and forwards Rashford (40/11, Man Utd), and Ings (3/1, Southampton) compared to previous call-ups.
Goals are likely in both nets
Even though the Belgians are a slight favorite here, it would be very hard for them to keep their sheet clean in this one. Both teams prefer an open style of play, so goals from both sides, probably, shouldn’t be absent. As mentioned, Belgium is a favorite here and is looking like a slightly better team in many aspects of the game, but I am not diminishing the capability of the English side to make this match as interesting as possible.
