Bochum didn’t have real promoting ambitions at the start of the season, but neither was actually expected to end up so close to the relegating positions nine rounds till the end of the season. Currently, they are three points above the playout placed Wehen and surely can’t approach the rest of the season in a relaxed way.
They did however slightly improve in the last five rounds, having two victories, two draw matches, and only one defeat – having a run of three games with no loss before the pause. Those results included a victory away to Dynamo Dresden and draw games at home against Sandhausen and away to Darmstadt.
However, at home, they didn’t win in the last four and it’s something they need to change quickly since both relegating positions are just four points below them.
Bochum team news
The home side should continue missing goalkeeper Riemann (24/0), as well as central back Decarli (22/1) and offensive midfielder Bapoh (4/1).
Heidenheim was really close to ending up winning the promotion last season only losing their focus in the last few rounds, while the ambitions remained pretty much the same for this season as well. Currently, they are four points behind third-placed Hamburger SV, and setback here could really minimize their chances.
Simply put their away performance hasn’t been up to the desired level many times and it’s something that needs huge improvement in order to stay competitive for the top three race – starting with this game.
They are still awaiting home clash against Hamburger SV in the 33rd round, so staying closely should be their goal as they don’t have such a difficult schedule till that clash.
Heidenheim team news
The guests continue to miss injured winger Thiel (no performance this season anyway), while central back Husing (19/0) is suspended for this one.
Should be one of most interesting matches this round
Bochum has nothing to wait in this one and is expected to attack from the first minute, while neither Heidenheim can be satisfied with a point. This match kinda resemblances the competitive motive of my previous Bundesliga pick and therefore I do expect a similar outcome.
The hosts are extremely effective for the side of their placement, while Heidenheim remains more quality but with quite unreliable defense away from home.
