Djurgarden is on the right track in the Allsvenskan, with two consecutive wins, but unfortunately, they failed to overcome the obstacle in the qualifications for the Champions League.
Last Wednesday evening they suffered a 2:0 loss against Ferencvaros in an away match. The Hungarians looked far better with the ball in this clash, as their attacks were sharper and more effective. The guests from Sweden conceded in the 33rd minute over Nguen, who was all fired up that day, as he scored another one in the 62nd minute.
The visitors had a couple of opportunities in the second part, that are worth mentioning, but the end of an attack was the main problem for them in this one.
Back in the Allsvenskan, they are at Europa League-leading 3rd place, six points behind Malmo, and a ticket for the Champions League again.
Defender Jonsson (2/0) is injured, as well as midfielder Ajdarevic (4/0). Midfielder Ulvestad (15/6) will be back from the suspension.
Goteborg is constantly failing in recording a long-awaited win in the Allsvenskan. In the last match, they suffered a home 1:3 loss against Norrkoping.
The hosts had several nice chances in the first part, but they weren’t able to realize them, and they went on a break with two goals disadvantage, as the guests used their opportunities more effectively in the first forty-five minutes. The home team managed to reduce the deficit in the 61st minute, but that was all from them in this one.
With a goal conceded in the 76th minute, the final 1:3 result was set, and the hosts continued their, not to be proud of, winless streak, and are far below the expectations.
Goteborg with its poor performances is positioned at 12th place, and if they don’t improve their appearances, the relegation battle scenario is becoming a real possibility.
Defender Bjarsmyr (10/1) is out injured, as well as midfielder Vilhelmsson (3/0) and forward Soder (2/0). Midfielder Farnerud (8/1) is doubtful.
No passive approach
With the loss in the Champions League qualifications, Djurgarden can now focus all their attention on the Allsvenskan. They are favorites, and I see them having no problems in scoring in this clash.
On the other side, they have a team that is in search of a victory for quite some time. They score goals, and I do think that this one will be no exception. They definitely could make it more interesting here with the hosts coming from a difficult Champions League battle. It would really surprise me not to see a goal at least once in each net.
