Eintracht Frankfurt got completely outplayed by Dortmund last time out in Bundesliga, suffering a 4:0 loss last Friday night. They were set to a passive role in the first halftime, with neither the hosts showing much, but scoring the goal first.
The second halftime was completely one-sided one, with Dortmund creating a lot and deserving all three goals scored in the second part. On the other hand, Eintracht didn’t show anything actually in the attack.
They had a great Thursday night winning over Salzburg in the Europa League with a 4:1 result and now enter the second leg being complete favorites.
Eintracht Frankfurt team news
Defensive midfielder Torro (3/0) is injured. Doubtful remains midfielder Gacinovic (14/0) being unfit, while striker Dost (14/5) missed the game on Thursday but might play here.
Union Berlin had all the chances to walk away with something at home against Leverkusen, but in the end, succumbed to a 2:3 loss. They took the lead already in the seventh minute via Gentner and had some great chances to double up the lead in the first halftime, but couldn’t resist later on.
In overall quite interesting second halftime, it was the guests who took the lead in the 83rd while the home team just temporarily leveled up via Bulter, conceding the third goal in the fourth minute of added time.
They are now six points above the relegation zone and can be satisfied with how the season goes, although on the road they have only more points than their today’s opponents – just eight out of eleven matches.
Union Berlin team news
The guests can’t count at defensive midfielder Trimmel (21/0) due to suspension, with offensive midfielder Mees (7/0) being injured. The participation of offensive Gogia (3/0) is doubtful.
Hosts to continue improving
Eintracht was outplayed by Dortmund last time in Bundesliga, but I expect them to react in this one. The guests are solid this season, but away from home remain somewhat too vulnerable at the back.
Despite their busy schedule, Eintracht should make a convincing appearance here as they undoubtedly upped the level of performances in the second part of the season.
