Freiburg failed to be more creative last time out on the road against Union Berlin when they took a point in a 0:0 stalemate.
Overly looking, they were slightly pushed back by the home side here and tried to be dangerous in transition, but unfortunately without success, while the hosts, even with a more dangerous performance, failed to be more creative, leaving this clash to pass by without too much excitement.
Freiburg is currently at the 5th spot in the general rankings, being only a point in deficit compared to the Champions League positioned Hoffenheim.
They miss defender Gulde (11/0), midfielders Keitel (10/0) and Schmid (2/0) due to injuries.
Leverkusen failed to meet the expectations in their last home clash against underdogs from Hoffenheim, as they took only a point in a 2:2 draw.
They took a double lead over Schick, who was accurate on two occasions in the 37th and the 63rd, but decreased their focus and allowed the visitors to equalize with two goals scored in the last ten minutes, definitely leaving this clash disappointed a bit.
Still, Leverkusen is doing quite well this season, as they are currently holding 3rd spot in the standings, six points in deficit compared to the second-placed Dortmund.
The guests keep missing defender Bakker (9/0), midfielder Baumgarlinger (2/0) due to injuries, but also suspended forward Diaby (15/5).

01.11.20 Freiburg vs Bayer Leverkusen 2 : 4
29.05.20 Freiburg vs Bayer Leverkusen 0 : 1
23.11.19 Bayer Leverkusen vs Freiburg 1 : 1
An open one is highly expected
Their current ranking is pretty much demanding a three-pointer here, and I definitely see both sides putting their maximum effort into reaching their goal. Being one of the most effective squads so far in the campaign, Leverkusen certainly has the means to be dangerous, but they also concede frequently, and here I see a chance for Freiburg to be as effective as possible.
For me, the outcome is beyond the horizon, but I am pretty sure that we are in for quite a spectacle, as both sides will not gain much if opting for passivity in this one.
