Germany did what was needed in the group opener when the side won over Denmark 3:1. They looked fully confident and moved the ball well in the midfield.
Domination in the first half was confirmed with a goal from Richter, who scored another one at the start of the second, while the Germans didn’t look like a passive side even when they had the desired lead.
Serbs completely failed to meet any kind of expectations in their 0:2 loss to Austria. The side looked vulnerable at the back every time the Austrians had the ball to their feet, doing very little in attack.
Their ball movement was slow, while it didn’t help them the fact that they stood playing with a man less since the 75th minute. Very nervous game and individuals are probably the results of them not playing like a real team – neither in attack or defense.
Both teams should be able to field their best here, excluding Serbian central back Jovanovic (25/0, Bordeaux) who suspended now following a red card against the Danes.
Serbian team is actually packed with individual quality, but that doesn’t mean anything if the team appears on the field as they do. They looked like a side without real gameplay, without any kind of hierarchy inside the roster and it’s something that can’t be fixed so soon.
Due to the nature of the competition, the Germans must field their best here and once again, shouldn’t hit the brake once they have the lead. The Serbs look like a side that can be easily destroyed here, their problems are of a far deeper nature.
