After starting narrow defeat away to Uerdingen, players of Hallescher improved well and recorded three consecutive victories.
It was over Hansa Rostock and Viktoria Koln, also winning in the last round against Chemnitzer 3:1 at home. It was a quite convincing performance from a team that upped the tempo well in the second halftime and took deserved a victory.
The side missed play-out position last season in last rounds and will surely once again try to surprise and go for the highest positions in a really competitive surrounding for their standards.
The home side can’t count at right full-backs Schilk (4/0) this season), Henschel (1/0 this season), defensive midfielder Washausen (31/1 last season) and striker Fetsch (32/8 last season) due to injuries.
Wolfsburg ended the previous season at the sixth position which might be regarded as improvement comparing to some previous years, however, the team was also very close to reach the Champions League finishing just three points behind fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
The team started preparations early, looking really well in some occasions, as they finished the pre-season matches with a victory over PSV, draw games against Union Berlin and Fenerbahce and an 8:1 victory over French team Nice in the last test game last Saturday afternoon (the game was played 2×60 minutes).
With exception of striker Ginczek (24/6 last season), the guests should have no other injury worry.
Hallescher can approach this game in a bit more relaxed way since they can’t lose much – just gain experience and potentially surprise.
Wolfsburg remains a strong favorite and since they looked really sharp in the attack in recent weeks, the side should be able to gain the advantage early into the match. It’s something that should open and spice up the game itself.
