Heidenheim had a very interesting game last Wednesday night in the quarter-finals of the German Cup when they suffered 5:4 defeat away from home against Bayern Munich. The opponent was playing with a man less from early into the match, but the guests also troubled them a lot and were very close to make a giant upset.
Koln was very convincing in a 4:0 victory at home over Holstein Kiel last weekend, scoring two goals inside each halftime. They completely outplayed the opponents and were so much more active on the field, despite players from Kiel keeping the ball more to their feet. The team keeps leading the table with three points more than HSV and now has a perfect chance to establish themselves even further.
Heidenheim continues to miss forward Leipertz (7/0), while suspended for this match is central back Theuerkauf (27/0). The guests keep missing midfielders Lehmann (3/0) and Hauptmann (10/0).
Holstein Kiel comes from a morale-boosting performance and will surely aim to make an upset here still being very live in the promotional battle. Koln is stronger, but their defensive lineup isn’t that convincing at times. Another open game with both teams making exciting moves in the offense is what I expect.
