Heidenheim lost the momentum in recent weeks, coming now from the fourth straight game without a victory. They suffered narrow 1:0 defeat away to Bochum last weekend, staying with a man less in the last thirty minutes and paying the price for it. Must be said, they didn’t look like a better side even before the red card shown.
Union Berlin is looking far better in a previous couple of months, coming from a 2:0 home win over Ingolstadt. A goal towards the end of each halftime was enough, while the guests stood playing with two men less in the second part. The side is now third with four points more than fourth St Pauli and surely wants to remain as competitive as possible.
The home team can’t count at suspended midfielder Andrich (18/1) and injured forward Leipertz (7/0). The guests continue to miss injured forward Polter (12/5) but also suspended midfielder Promel (21/4) and defender Rapp (17/0).
No doubt that Union Berlin will be trying to get the victory here, but so does Heidenheim that needs to improve as soon as possible. They are still not finished in the promotion battle but need to revert everything starting from this one. Circumstances of teams, their attacks and lack of reliability in defense promise goals.
