Ipswich did well to get a victory away to Fleetwood Town last Saturday afternoon, in a game where they looked like a slight underdog and weren’t given a lot of chances before the game.
Still, the team got rewarded for their fighting spirit winning the match thanks to a goal from Jackson in the 58th minute. They withstood some pressure during the match but managed to walk away with a clean sheet.
Towards the end, defender Wilson got red-carded but without further problems for the guests. Ipswich is now in a really good form, coming from straight-four victories and are now leading the table alone with four points more than second-placed Wycombe.
Will Keane (2/0) is set to make a return for the home side after suffering from a minor groin problem recently. Similar is with center back Toto Nsiala who didn’t play since suffering injury in the pre-season matches. Forward Freddie Sears is long-term absentee, while out will also be striker Norwood (11/5).
After three games with no victory and generally below-par performances, players of Gillingham responded fine in a 3:1 victory at home against Southend last Saturday afternoon.
They made a perfect ending of the first halftime and entrance into the second, scoring a goal on each occasion and leaving the guests without real tactical response.
Even so, the guests managed to reply and reduce the lead, but in a bit more rough play they stood playing with a man less in the 66th minute.
It was easier for Gillingham to play since then, sealing the victory in the 87th minute via Hanlan. The side now stands at the fifteenth position with six points less than the playoff zone.
Midfielder Matt Willock (1/0) is still sidelined. Further rotation is granted with both teams here.
Ipswich seems to be in really great shape now and more importantly, they are really tight at the back and not allowing easy goals into their net. Gillingham comes from a good performance, but are still a huge underdog int his one.
Ipswich simply has far better quality inside their roster and even when rotated, they should appear as even stronger favorites here being a better side in every aspect.
