LASK Linz was limited to quite a defensive approach in the previous round away to PSV and the team was probably satisfied after the game ended as a goalless one.
They didn’t disappoint, but also didn’t show much either, simply with the Dutch team having better overall chances in not that interesting clash.
With four points earned, LASK is now two points behind second-placed Sporting and needs to get the victory here actually in order to stay fully competitive for one of two top positions.
As for the domestic league, they continue to impress coming from a 2:0 home victory over Austria Vienna last Sunday night, which was their fifth consecutive league win. The team remains with just three points behind the leaders from Salzburg.
The Austrians continue to play without defenders Ramsebner (2/1), Wostry (5/0) and Pogatetz (5/0). Midfielder Oh (3/0) is also injured.
PSV looked like a better side in the third round and a controlling one, however, they failed to up the tempo up to the desired level to actually break the opponent.
Most of the clash was spent in a bit meaningless ball possession of theirs, while the team also didn’t have proper luck in some occasions.
Still, with seven points they are in a good situation regarding the Europa League, but also can’t afford to lose here either.
As for the domestic Eredivisie, the team really needs quick improvement as they come from a 2:2 draw away to Sparta Rotterdam which was their third consecutive game with no victory – after two previous losses too. The team is now already eight points behind the leaders from Ajax and already in deep trouble there.
Midfielder Bergwijn (10/2) is doubtful for this one, as well as important forward Malen (10/10) due to an ankle problem.
I expected goals in the first match between these two, but our bet was caught up at the start of a really poor form of PSV. However, this time it’s not only about the Dutch team since they are playing away and I expect much more offensive LASK Linz this time.
The hosts have no other option but to attack trying to find a way to get the victory and improve the chances of progressing further. Under such circumstances, PSV won’t have many options but to reply in as concrete as possible appearance in offense.
