Lazio looked like quite a strong team on the road to Venezia last time out before the little break, as they overpowered the hosts with a 1:3 result.
They didn’t need much in order to score, taking the lead via Pedro but really stepped up in the second and did what was needed to secure the victory thanks to goals from Acerbi in 48th and Alberto late into the added time, while they didn’t allow much space to Venezia in the second.
This was their second consecutive victory, as they now still stand outside of the European zone, having a point less than sixth-placed Roma.
The hosts have defender Luiz Felipe (16/0), Acerbi (17/3) and midfielder Basic (13/0) doubtful for the moment. Midfielder Akpa Akpro (8/0) is away on international duty.
Even though they have suffered a 2:4 loss at home to AC Milan, nobody is questioning quite potent and above expectations season for Empoli for now.
However, playing against much more individually quality Milan was simply too much, as the guests looked more concrete with the ball to their feet and it can be said that it was a game where the players of Empoli can take their lessons for the next months.
They had five matches undefeated streak in Serie A, standing just behind the top eight teams this season.
Empoli will be missing defender Romagnoli (10/2), midfielders Cutrone (16/2) and Haas (16/0).

Empoli to bring it on
Lazio is a favorite and remains quite an effective team, no questions about it. However, Empoli is also looking really well and obviously has not much respect even against stronger sides on the road.
Knowing that this one should be quite an open game, with both of them proving during the whole season that they have a way better offense than what their backline reliability remains.
