It was surely wise to lower down the form a bit once they understood they can’t reach the direct promotion, as Leeds looking much better in the first game away to Derby in a 1:0 victory.
They limited the opponent to very few real chances, deserving this win fully now. The job won’t be easy, but once the opponent opens up, the victory can easily be even with a bigger margin.
Derby County is now having a really difficult task, but somehow it was expected as they were a side to clinch the playoff position last and surely did lost a lot of energy recently.
They did look like a team without much of energy left but will need to risk a lot once more in order to stand some chances.
Left full back Alioski (44/7) is out injured, same as another left defender Douglas (27/0). Injured are also midfielder Forshaw (31/0) and offensive Roofe (33/15). The guests also miss left backs Forsyth (13/0), Cole (9/0), central defender Davies (5/0) and most likely midfielder Bryson (28/3). Forward Waghorn (36/9) is doubtful for the moment.
As already said, Derby will need to chase the result here and open up sooner or later. There’s some individual quality that speaks in favor of Leeds anyway, as the hosts do remain a strong favorite in my eyes in this one.
