The year hasn’t started too great for Leeds. They lost to QPR in FA Cup and to Nottingham in the Championship. And on the last weekend in 2018, they lost another Championship game, this time against Hull at home. The poor form hasn’t damaged their position on the table, but if it continues, they could lose the first place even this weekend.
But, such a thing doesn’t seem like a possibility if you ask Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa. He wants his team to bounce back into a winning form and the match against Derby seems like an ideal opportunity for that. First of all, the game is played at Elland Road in Leeds, where this team has won 8 out of 13 Championship matches this season, which makes them the best home side in the league.
Another reason why Leeds seem likely to win this game is that their fitness problems are over. Some of their key men were absent in the last couple of weeks for various reasons, so Bielsa had to pick some of the guys from the Under 23 squad. For this match, all of Leeds’ key men are fit and ready, with the exception of Kalvin Philips who’s serving a bad.
But, one player missing is nothing compared to what’s going on in Derby County squad. Their injury list is much, much longer. Some of the guys who are likely to miss the Friday’s duel include their top scorer Harry Wilson, experienced midfielder Craig Forsyth, and two first-team defenders, Curtis Davies and Scott Malone.
