After having a nice streak of five matches without a negative result, Lens was convincingly defeated in the last round against Lille with 4:0, on the road.
They had a 2:0 deficit after the first forty-eight minutes of the match, and with two red cards appointed to them in the second part, their fate was pretty much sealed. They conceded two more goals in the 69th and the 79th minute, having no chance to do something significant in this clash, having a numerical disadvantage during the second halftime too.
They are currently at 10th place in the overall rankings, having thirteen points collected so far, but also with two games less than their opponent in the upcoming one.
Lens team news
Central defender Gradit (7/0), defensive midfielder Cahuzac (7/0), and midfielder Michelin (4/0) are suspended for this match. Midfielders Fortes (2/0), Sylla (5/0), and forward Ganago (6/4) are injured.
Reims is back on the right path, as they managed to record two victories in a row in Ligue 1. In their latest clash against Strasbourg, they did a good job, when they took a 2:1 home win.
They opened the match in a better way, looked more dangerous during the first part, and deservedly took the double lead with goals in the 22nd and the 27th minute. Three minutes later, the visitors reduced the deficit from the penalty, and despite being a more aggressive side in the continuation, failed in leveling up.
Reims is at 15th place in the overall standings, having some difficulties at the beginning, but visibly appearing better in the last two matches.
Defenders De Smet (2/0), Konan (6/0) are out injured, the same as midfielder Chavalerin (7/0) and offensive midfielder Zeneli (6/0).
An aggressive approach is expected
Both sides proved to be very effective, especially the hosts, who were able to score in every single match this season if exclude the last one against Lille. With the visitors appearing much better lately, goals from both sides are seeming quite realistic here. Lens surely wants to leave a good impression after their convincing defeat, while Reims certainly doesn’t want to end their winning momentum. A very interesting clash is ahead of us, where both sides will be searching for another three-pointer, with the guests not being a real pushover this time.
