Lille did just enough in their last Ligue 1 match against underdogs from Nimes when they recorded a narrow 0:1 victory in an away match.
To be honest, both sides were pretty passive in this encounter, but the visitors did what was needed in the first part when they scored the only one in this clash over Yilmaz in the 29th minute. The rest of the match was not full of excitement, as both sides opted for a more defensive approach, so we were lucky to witness at least one goal being scored.
Lille, overly looking, is putting very good appearances this season, currently being at 3rd place, having only one point less than leading Lyon.
Midfielder Araujo (11/3) and defender Celik (13/1) should be out injured. Offensive Yazici (16/5) is doubtful after being positive for Covid-19. Right-back Pied (4/0) is doubtful too.
Reims is coming to this clash well-motivated, as they were able to record a convincing win last time out at home against St Etienne with a 3:1 result.
Despite having the ball possession disadvantage throughout the encounter, the hosts used their chances better, taking the lead in the 12th minute via Dia from the penalty. The same player doubled the lead in the 37th minute, followed by Cafaro in the 58th, and even though the visitors managed to score in the last twenty minutes, lack of sharpness at the finishing cost them, as they created more chances overall.
Reims is at 14th place in the overall standings, safe from the red zone, at least for now, but not in a position to compete for Europan places at the table.
Midfielder Berisha (16/0) is doubtful, as well as offensive Donis (3/0) for the guests.
Goals kinda likely
Lille is having one of the best seasons in their recent history, that is a fact, and they are reasonably considered a strong favorite by the bookies. I am sharing their opinion and supporting the hosts in this one is seeming like a reasonable choice.
However, Reims showed signs of improvement in their latest clash, and even though they might not have the capacity to fully remain competitive, I think that they are capable of spicing this clash a bit. After all, there is no reason for them to stay in the back against a far superior opponent. There’s not much of a point in staying back for the guests.
