Monaco suffered a narrow 1:0 loss in the last match against Brest, playing away from their home.
They conceded an early goal, already in the 8th minute over Faivre, strangely enough, not being able to level up, despite having a noticeable ball possession advantage during the whole encounter. In this clash, the hosts showed a very nice transition game, while the guests remained too passive, despite having the ball to their feet and plenty of time to organize a decent attack.
Monaco is currently in 6th place and if they exclude this defeat, can be satisfied with the way they appear on the field since the beginning of the new season in Ligue 1.
Defender Disasi (5/1) is suspended for the hosts, while doubtful are defenders Ballo Toure (3/0) and Maripan (2/0). Offensive Golovin (2/0) is injured.
Montpellier made a setback in their last encounter against Nimes when they come with a 0:1 home defeat.
The match between these two was a more or less a balanced one, as none of them stood out and tried a bit riskier approach. Everything was leading to a goalless match, but the guests scored the only one in this clash in the 84th minute over Ripart. With the way Montpellier appeared, this defeat didn’t come as a great surprise, with them being too reserved to make a difference.
Montpellier is at 5th place on the table, having minor difficulties in the last two matches, but never the less, a team with great potential.
The guests should have no fresh injury worries ahead of this one. One of the players is covid-19 positive, but his name isn’t announced yet.
No clean sheets in this clash
As the season progresses, slowly but surely, more quality teams are standing out in the rankings. These two have the potential for high placement and will do their best in achieving it. I am expecting a much better performance out of both teams in this encounter, with goals seeming quite realistic from both sides. In the end, they are quite effective this season, if we exclude their latest matches. After all, Monaco is a favorite but isn’t to be trusted at the moment in the defense.
