Newcastle vs Preston

Newcastle United romped to a victory by a score of 3-0 on the weekend against Ipswich town, which along with other results has propelled their lead by 3 points now. Newcastle under Benitez are clearly the strongest team in the division and should look to get promoted back to the top flight in the first time of asking. Until such time a good cup run, should help build the motivation and enthusiasm among the fans. While they are expected to rotate, a few players such as Atsu, Anita, Diane, Mbemba and even Mitrovic; could make a start for the Magpies tonight. Newcastle’s impressive performances have come a lot due to strong defensive where they have only conceded 11 goals. There have been 41 goals in the 14 games played by Newcastle, almost 3 per game; and will look to continue adding goals in this encounter. Dwight Gayle has been in superb offensive form, and was unlucky not to find the back of the net on the weekend, but I would back him again to find the goal in this game, if he is given the starting nod.

Preston are sitting in 9th spot; just 3 behind a playoff position and their recent run of 7 games unbeaten should make them competitive as they travel up north to Newcastle. They have been average if you ask me, with 6 wins, 6 losses and 2 draws so far this season, while only netting 18 goals in that time led by Hugil who has 4. They have picked up their offensive form netting 14 of those goals purely in the last 7 games; so they will expect to find the back of the net to keep the Newcastle side thinking.

What makes it funny, just like Man City v Swansea in the last round; now you have Preston and Newcastle who take on each other before their weekend clash; and both sides will be looking to take any advantage that they can ahead of the weekend encounter. I am backing goals to flow in this game which will be expected to be open and free; so over 2.5 goals is the way I will go in this game.
