Plymouth is having difficulties since the beginning of the new season, as their form is certainly not at the desired level. They lost in the EFL Trophy match against Cheltenham last Thursday evening with a 2:0 result, away from home but rotating a lot.
They are not shinning in League One also, as currently are having three matches in a row without a positive result. In their latest encounter, they suffered a loss against Hull with a minimal result, in an away match. The guests conceded already in the 10th minute, not being able to level up, despite several nice opportunities that were created, especially in the second part. Lack of concentration at the end of the attack was the main problem, and I am pretty confident that they will work their way through, as the season continues.
Plymouth is currently in 13th place in the rankings, having five points out of four matches played.
The hosts have quite a fresh squad after being rested against Cheltenham during the midweek. Midfielder MacLeod (3/0) remains a doubt for the moment.
Burton is in a similar situation as their opponents in this encounter, as they too lost their latest matches. In the EFL Trophy, they lost to Cambridge Utd with 2:4 at home, and in League One, Portsmouth outplayed them at their home, taking the victory with a 2:4 result.
The hosts were competitive during the first part and went on a break with a 2:1 lead. However, the second half was pretty much one-sided, as the hosts conceded three more goals, with absolutely no idea on how to be dangerous to the opponent.
Burton recorded one victory and suffered three losses since the beginning of the season, and is now at 23rd place in the overall rankings.
The guests have a couple of worries for this match, as they should continue missing offensive Akins (4/2) due to ankle injury and midfielder O’Toole (2/0). Right full-back Fox (4/0) is in quarantine.
A nice chance for a morale-boosting victory
The hosts are not in their best clothes lately, but in my opinion, are closer to victory in this clash. They showed more than their unreliable opponents in this season, and now are having a nice opportunity to record a three-pointer. The visitor’s defense proved to be very weak under the pressure, and I am certain that Plymouth will do their best to take advantage of that weakness, and walk with a victory in their hands out of this encounter
