Real Madrid is having difficulties with their European appearances, as they suffered a surprising loss to Shakhtar with 2:3 at home in the first round, and come with a 2:2 away draw against Gladbach in the second.
In their latest match against the German team, they showed vulnerabilities in their backline, as they found themselves in a pretty unpleasant situation. They had a 2:0 deficit after the first fifty-eight minutes of the match, and with a huge dose of luck, bounced back with goals in the 87th over Benzema, and in the third minute of added time via Casemiro, narrowly escaping with a point out of this clash.
Even though they are doing all right back in Spain, where they are currently in 2nd place, this latest draw in Europe puts them in a must-win situation in the upcoming clash with Inter.
The hosts miss right-backs Odriozola (1/0), Carvajal (3/0), Nacho (3/0), central back Militao (2/0), offensive Odegaard (3/0), while right back Vazquez (4/0) is doubtful.
The team from Milan is also not at its highest among the European elite, as they failed to record a positive result since the beginning of the campaign. In their opening match against Gladbach at home, they come with a 2:2 draw and played a goalless second match with Shakhtar away.
They had the ball to their feet in this clash with the Ukrainian team, but they lacked creativity in the offense, as they looked a bit out of ideas on how to be more dangerous, especially in the second part. With a pretty passive home side too, a match without goals didn’t come as a great surprise.
Inter, like their opponents from Madrid, has to risk more in the upcoming clash, but the busy schedule has surely left some imprint on their physics, but anyway, an interesting one is ahead of us.
Midfielders Sensi (3/0) and Vecino (no performance this season) remain injured, while neither offensive Alexis Sanchez (4/0) should appear. Striker Lukaku (5/5) is doubtful with a thigh problem.
An open game with close to must-win situations
Actually both teams are now pretty much close to a must-win situation after their quite disappointing start. It’s difficult to expect any of them to remain passive during the clash, while Real remains a favorite.
However, many times against more quality sides when they attacked, they did concede with ease. Inter should be able to score, maybe even more than once, even if Lukaku doesn’t appear on the field this time.
