After an unexpected defeat at home against Levante, players of Real Sociedad have responded in the best possible way with a 1:2 victory away to Granada last Sunday night.
The guests have taken the lead in the 21st minute via Portu and didn’t switch back to a conservative and passive role. On the contrary, the game remains open one in the first halftime even when the home side leveled up the result.
Sociedad remained to be slightly better in the second and threatened a couple of times, managing to finally get the deserved victory via the second goal from Portu in the 89th minute.
They are now tied up with Real Madrid and Barcelona in the first position and surely want a victory here to avoid a second consecutive setback in home matches.
The home side misses midfielder Illarramendi (3/0) and offensive Odegaard (11/2). Doubtful for the moment are defender Elustondo (5/0) and long-term absentee midfielder Pardo coming off from injury with no performance so far into the season anyway.
Leganes once again disappointed their fans, even though this time it was expected for them to get something at home against Eibar.
In the end, the team suffered a narrow 1:2 defeat despite taking the lead already in the sixth minute. Defensive vulnerability simply remains a huge problem for the entire team and the side will have huge problems being competitive in a relegation battle in case the things don’t improve soon.
After twelve rounds played, they have only one victory and are already six points behind the safe zone. Additionally, they are one of the least effective sides with just six goals scored so far – just two on the road out of five games.
Left-back Silva (11/0) should be suspended while injured and out are right back Navarro (4/0) and midfielder Perez (7/0).
After a morale-boosting victory away to Granada and really good form recently, Sociedad remains an even stronger favorite in my eyes than what the odds suggest.
Leganes doesn’t seem like a side really capable of threatening them, especially since it’s on the road. Real Sociedad to continue the momentum and probably win with more than goal difference here.
