Rennes made quite an appearance in the last round at home against Lyon when they completely outplayed them and recorded a convincing 4:1 victory.
They scored as many as four goals between 45th and 83rd, demonstrating quite good offensive capabilities, allowing the visiting side to somehow find their comfort in the second minute of added time when they managed to be effective from the penalty.
Rennes is currently at the 5th spot in the Ligue 1 rankings, one point in deficit compared to the Champions League positioned Nice.
They will miss forward Doku (3/0), midfielders Martin (5/1) and Deen Sulemana (13/4), plus long-term absentee defender Gelin who didn’t play yet anyway.
Montpellier positively surprised in their appearance on the road against favored Nice when they did just enough to record a close 0:1 victory.
Even though they were severely suppressed during the whole clash, they punished an uncreative play of their opponents and scored over Mollet late in the 80th, extending their positive run to two matches now.
Montpellier is at the 6th spot in the general rankings, three points in deficit compared to their opponents in the upcoming clash.
The visitors miss suspended midfielder Ferri (12/0), but also injured defender Thuler (7/0).

A great goal potential
Definitely, both squads are coming to this clash with boosted morale, and I am expecting their maximum engagement in recording another positive result.
Rennes is a strong favorite, but Montpellier is looking quite well lately, so in my opinion, opting for a higher number of goals is seeming like the best bet, with a decent value this time.
