Hello everyone, my pick for this weekend is for the game that will be played at the New York Stadium, Rotherham. The game will be played between Rotherham United and Burton Albion.
The home side head into the game at the top of the league, their form of late has been impressive and I think their manager Paul Warne should be included in the manager of the month award for January. it might go to Peterborough as they’ve also been in form. Rotherham sit top of the table with a total of 50 points from 28 league games. They’ve won 15 games, drawn 5 and lost 8.
Their home form has really picked up and this is the reason they’ve managed to climb to the top. All season the Millers have been brilliant away from home, yet their home form has been average. In 14 home games, Rotherham have played 14 and won 7 and drawn 3, losing 4. They do head into the clash with Burton tomorrow in form, not only did they beat then top of the league Ipswich 1-0, they did it in style. The game could have ended 4-0 to the Millers as they dominated the game from start to finish. Ipswich didn’t get a chance to shine and if Rotherham would have had a little more luck it could have ended with a higher score-line. Rotherham hit the bar twice and had a goal disallowed, so it was an unlucky performance.
They should have a strong squad available for tomorrow as no one was injured. They’ve added to their squad but I don’t expect things to change in terms of the starting XI.
The visitors for the last have also been in-form so I don’t think this will be as easy as it could have been. Burton are pushing for a play off place themselves and they lie in 10th in the league with 41 points from 27 games. They’re just 4 points away from a play off place so they’ve everything to play for.
Their last two games have ended in draws, they managed to draw 2-2 away at Wimbledon and then a 1-1 draw vs Accrington. In regards to their away form, they are the 3rd strongest team away from home. They have played 14 games away from home, winning 5, drawing 4 and losing 5. They do concede goals away from home as they have conceded 24 goals away from home in their 14 games. I think vs a strong, in-form Rotherham team it could be a tough ask for Burton to get a result here.
