Rotherham vs Shrewsbury

League One action for me in a game that will be played at Wembley Stadium tomorrow (Sunday 27th May 2018) and kick off at 15:00 UK time. The game will be played between Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town.
Both sides had a great season and none of these sides would have expected to have the seasons that they have had at all. Both managers (Paul Warne & Paul Hurst) are ex-Rotherham United players and are both well known at Rotherham.
On and off the field these two are friends and that is clear to see, there is such a respect between both managers. This means there is huge bragging rights in place for the winning side. Shrewsbury finished 3rd in the league and ended up 9 points away from an automatic place. The Shrews finished 8 points in-front of the Millers this season so should realistically go into the final as favourites, however, the Millers are favourites for the game.

Both sides travel really well and have managed to finish in the top 7 if the games was just based on away games. Shrewsbury and Rotherham have fit sides to choose from and I don’t think the sides will change too much from the teams that got them into the final in the first place. Shrewsbury were fantastic in their 2 semi final games as they beat Charlton in both games and kept 2 clean sheets, so Rotherham manager Warne will know it will be tough to score easily against them.
However, i think with 1 win each this season I think Rotherham will know they are beatable. Rotherham beat Shrewsbury this season in their own ground 1-0 back in February so this will give them a huge amount of confidence.
Rotherham head into the game having not lost since their 2-1 defeat away to Plymouth on the 28th April. This was their only defeat in their last 8 games so confidence will be on a high. I expect Michael Smith to lead the line for the Millers with Newell and possibly Taylor on the right hand side. I think we will go for pace up top to try and test their defence.
Shrewsbury went a few games not performing at the end of the season, this might have been because they didn’t have much to play for at the time. However, I think Rotherham will have the mental edge on The Shrews in this game.
With it being a final, I’m aware there is a lot at stake and a lot to play for along with a lot of pressure. So I do expect a tight game and will just back Rotherham United to lift the trophy at a price of 1.70 with Bet365. Good luck all.
