Southampton made a minor setback in the last round at home against West Ham when they come with a 0:0 draw, despite being a slightly favored side.
They mostly had the ball to their feet in this clash but were simply too uncreative in the offensive line to be more dangerous in this encounter. The same things about the offense can be said for the visiting side, so a match without goals didn’t come as a great surprise.
Southampton is currently at 9th place on the table, competitive, at least for now, for European exit places, as they are only three points in deficit compared to Everton.
Central defender Vestergaard (13/3) is out injured, as well as offensive Redmond (9/1) for the hosts.
Liverpool slightly decreased in their performances in the last two matches when they come with two consecutive draws.
Last time out, they played a goalless match on the road against underdogs from Newcastle, where they probably deserved a bit more. The visitors were in complete control, looked better in the offensive line, but the finishing was the main problem in this clash. They had several chances worth mentioning, especially in the first part, but sometimes a bit of luck is needed if everything else fails.
Liverpool still holds the leading position in the Premier League, but now they have the same amount of points as their closest rival Manchester United.
The Reds will miss central-backs van Dijk (5/1), Gomez (7/0), Matip (8/1), midfielders Keita (7/0), Milner (9/0), and forward Jota (9/5) due to injuries.
The hosts can spice it up
Liverpool is by far the most effective team in this season so far and having two draws behind them, I see them approach aggressively here in their attempt to end that winless streak. Considering their offensive potential, goals shouldn’t be absent from their side, while the hosts can find their way to the opponent’s goal via counters. After all, both sides require a three-pointer, so I see no reason for each of them to opt for a more defensive approach in the upcoming clash, with the Saints more than capable of being dangerous too.
