Rapid Vienna looked better and more concrete during most of the first leg’s match. They even took the lead via Schwaab in the 60th minute.
Still, it wasn’t enough as they suffered defeat thanks to a goal conceded from a penalty kick and an own goal in the last twenty minutes. They’ll be having far more difficult task away to Graz.
Sturm didn’t look that confident on the road, but still got what they wanted with a bit lucky circumstances, however now they do stand out as a favorite to clinch that Europa League spot.
It’s something that they actually lost in the last three rounds of the Championship group when the side suffered three back to back defeats and allowed Austria Vienna to get that fourth position.
Sturm has no fresh injury concerns ahead of this one. Central defender Barac (12/0) is out injured, with also central back Sonnleitner (23/5) being doubtful now after he left the first leg early.
It all comes down to this match and with Rapid being down already from the first leg, the wide open game is what I expect from them. They looked better in the first clash but allowed some defensive errors that cost them too much towards the end of the game.
I wouldn’t say their destiny is sealed, but they will have to have some luck as well, in a probably very open and interesting match. Both teams scoring and more than a couple of goals are so realistic outcome this time with the current circumstances.
