Tottenham will play their second home game after the coronavirus break on Tuesday night when they receive West Ham. Hosts sit in the 8th position with just 42 points in 30 games. They are only 4 points below Manchester United (5th), Wolves (6th) and 2 points from Sheffield United (7th), all of them are fighting for a European spot, it could turn out to be a Champions League spot because of the Manchester City ban.
Visitors sit on 17th place with 27 points in the relegation zone along with the likes of Brighton, Watford, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa, all of these teams with just 6 points of difference and two will descend.
We saw the hosts play a solid first half against a quality side like Manchester United, scoring one goal in the process. In the second half, visitors used their bench with Pogba being the most notable one and controlled the game and got a deserved draw.
Visitors lost their home game against Wolverhampton by 0-2, another quality side that sits 6th (46 pts).
I will fade once again this awful West Ham team, as I said in my previous post when facing wolves, they have not improved under Moyes, their underlying numbers are bottom tier. They have only 8 points in 11 matches!
On the other side, we have a Spurs team that has not been impressive at all, but we have to analyze their performances and the reasons for some bad ones. Mourinho blamed injuries before the break, Sissoko, Son, and Harry Kane were three players that were missing, and they have returned. So, we have to ‘throw’ most of the numbers with Mourinho and see how they start performing with these in their starting 11.
We saw a tired Spurs side from the 60-65 minute, Mourinho responded with: “The way I was reading the game… I did not have any options on the bench”. He referred of not having attacking options for a counter-attack, well Lucas Moura and Dele Alli will return, giving him what he wants. He said: “Next match we recover Alli and Moura (not confirmed because he had a knock, but he should be on the bench at least), and it will be much better”.
I expect a fight in this match, Mourinho will probably line-up the same 11 without Lamela, so: Lloris, Aurier, Dier, Sanchez, Davis, Winks, Sissoko, Son, Alli, bergwijn, Kane. He will have Lamela and Moura (probably) to use as good attacking options, something he did not have on the last match.
Lo Celso should be more fit in the midfield to create chances if he comes from the bench once again. Finally, this is really important and criminally underrated, I believe that players are not 100% fit after a three-month break, so one extra day of rest for a better squad is HUGE.
