Valerenga completely outplayed the underdogs from Brann in the last round of the Eliteserien when they recorded a convincing 5:1 home victory.
Everything was settled in the first forty-five minutes of the match when the home side scored as many as five goals while conceding only one, including three from Kjartansson. Surprisingly, goals were absent in the continuation, despite the very aggressive play that was imposed by the home side.
With this victory, Valerenga finds themselves in the 5th place, having only two points less than European placed Odd.
Forward Camara (2/0) should be the only injury worry for the home side.
Molde is coming to this match after they successfully did their job in the previous Champions League qualification match against Qarabaq from Azerbaijan. They were able to defeat the hosts, but not without difficulties.
The visitors from Norway were really lucky during the first part of the match, as they were completely outplayed, but still being able to preserve their goal. The second part more or less went by in balance, as none of the teams weren’t taking any unnecessary risks.
The match progressed to extra time when the guests had a great chance in the 102nd minute to score, but unfortunately, they missed a penalty. It was only fair that this match is resolved after the penalty series, and Molde was a more concentrated team, as they were able to win and progressed to the next round.
Back in the Eliteserien, Molde suffered a 3:2 defeat in the last round against Viking, playing away from home. They are currently at European exit 2nd place, too far behind Bodo/Glimt and a ticket for Champions League.
Molde team news
The guests keep missing injured defender Bjornbak (11/0), midfielders Gregegersen (3/1), and Haraldseid (no performance this season). Some further rotation is very likely.
The hosts will attack too
Both of them are very effective, as they were able to score in almost every match they played. I am expecting the same scenario in this one, as both teams are in need of a three-pointer. None of them will be satisfied with just a point in this one, so they will maximize their focus on offense. Molde comes from a difficult schedule and no matter what will want points here. However, this is also a great chance for the hosts to attack and seek a three-pointer, something they probably wouldn’t have a realistic chance to go for.
