Werder Bremen took a three-pointer last weekend when the team visited Augsburg on Saturday afternoon. They had close to a perfect start since the team managed to get the double lead thanks to goals from Kruse and Eggstein in the 34th and the 36th minute.
Hosts reduced just before the halftime whistle via Ja-Cheol, while Max equalized at the start of the second. Even though it was a troubling phase of the clash, Werder managed to get back into the lead in the 75th minute via a goal from Klaasen. The team now has two victories and two draws, surely enjoying their start of the season.
They are sharing the third position with four points less than leaders from Bayern Munich. Kainz, Kruse, and Harnik should be leading their offense in a 4-3-3 formation. Forward Aron Johansson and goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino are both long-term absentees. Forward Yuya Osako (3/1) is doubtful due stomach disorder. A couple of more are also sidelined as long-term absentees.
Hertha, on the other side, is also having a really good start into the season as the team comes from yet another victory. It was on Saturday afternoon at home against Gladbach with a 4:2 result in one of the most interesting matches of the previous round.
Their visitors took the lead from the penalty kick in the 29th minute via Hazard, but Ibisevic and Lazaro reverted the scoreline deservedly in next five minutes. The second halftime was pretty similar, with Hertha being bit better and scoring goals again via Ibisevic and Duda, while Plea temporarily reduced for the guests. Thanks to this victory, a team from Berlin kept the second position with two points less than leaders from Bayern Munich.
Guests are set to play in a version of a 4-1-4-1 formation with Ibisevic as a central striker. Central defender Jordan Torunarigha (3/0) and midfielder Marko Grujic (4/0) are both injured for this one. They also miss midfielder Sidney Friede, offensive Vladimir Darida and Matthew Leckie and fullback Peter Pekarik, all without performing so far in the season.
Bremen are full of confidence after their victory on the road to Augsburg last weekend. The side is still undefeated this season and also awaits a team that is morally boosted with their own start. I simply can’t see this match being defensive one with little chances, even though the game itself could be decided in details. Hard fought game with both teams having more than a couple of goal scoring chances in each halftime.
