Even though they took a point in a 3:3 draw against slightly favored LASK Linz, the players of AC Wolfsberger will definitely be disappointed to have conceded the last goal during the added time. It was LASK that entered the match more efficiently and had the double lead, however, the home side responded far better in the second part.
In quite an open encounter, Wolfsberger reacted much better after the second goal conceded and managed to completely revert the result thanks to goals from Dieng, Liendl, and Novak from 58th till 89th minute. However, as said, their focus got lost and the guests scored their third too.
After this point taken, they stand second at the table and have a perfect chance now to keep up in the race for the Champions League exit.
AC Wolfsberger team news
Midfielder Sprangler (9/0) is out injured, as well as central-back Peric who didn’t perform so far.
After almost a shocking victory away to LASK when the lady-luck really smiled on the players of Hartberg, their reality soon hit them last weekend. It was in a 0:6 loss at home against Salzburg. Already after eleven minutes, it was a three-goal lead for the visitors, while the home squad looked quite lost in space.
The continuation of the game brought us a bit more open performance from both teams, however with only one side finding a way to be efficient. After this loss, they remained fifth at the table with five points less than fourth-placed LASK and if the team is actually to compete for the European spot, this would be one of the chances to get back into the race, although with weak chances.
Midfielders Lema (8/0) and Rakowitz (12/2) are out injured, same as offensive midfielder Ostrak (10/1). Striker Gotal (9/0) won’t play either.
Wolfsberger AC is having an obviously improved form since the re-start of the league and now with the second position and Champions League exit is really close, they shouldn’t slip-up that easily.
It will be really difficult for Hartberg to get back to positive results after such a demolishing result against Salzburg, especially since they once again meet a really efficient side.
