Southampton vs Brentford ✅

Premier League action continues for Southampton which is currently holding the 14th spot in the general rankings, at a safe distance from a danger zone, as they have ten points more than relegation-worried Burnley.
They did a decent job in their latest appearance away against Tottenham when they managed to take a point in a 1:1 draw, definitely deserving a bit more in this clash in my opinion.
Southampton boosted their morale even more last weekend when they booked their ticket for further progress in FA Cup when they outplayed Swansea with a 3:2 result after an extra time, and are surely eager to start their 2022 Premier League campaign in the best way possible.
Defender Valery (1/0) is suspended, while the Saints miss goalkeeper McCarthy (15/0), defenders Walker-Peters (15/0), Livramento (18/1), midfielders Djenepo (8/0) and Smallbone (1/0).

Bournemouth vs Brentford

Bournemouth ended the regular part of the season in the 6th spot and is approaching this first leg of the playout phase shaken a bit, as they were in three matches losing streak prior to this one.
In their last match at home against underdogs from Stoke, they appeared quite passive and suffered a 0:2 loss, not using the huge ball possession advantage which they had during the whole encounter.
As mentioned, they conceded two in total, over Forrester in the 36th and Smith in the 52nd, but this match had no competitive signature, so their poor appearance was understandable to a certain level.

QPR vs Brentford

Expectedly, QPR played a very tough clash last time out at home when they welcomed Blackburn and recorded a 1:0 victory.
After a goalless first part when both sides had several decent opportunities, it was the hosts that were able to be effective in the 54th minute over Barbet, but it had to be said that the visitors had complete control over the game, and it was truly unlucky for them of not scoring at least one.
QPR occupies the 17th position in the rankings, having only five points more than relegation placed Sheffield Wednesday.

The hosts will miss defender de Wijs (7/0), midfielders Amos (5/0), and Carroll (22/0) due to injuries. Forward Dykes (24/5) is doubtful.

Brentford ended their four matches winning streak in the Championship last Sunday afternoon when they suffered an unexpected home loss to Barnsley with a 0:2 result.

They risked from the very start, approached the clash more openly, and had the misfortune of conceding their first one early in the 13th minute. Even though the hosts did their best, they simply lacked the ideas on how to be more concrete at the finishing, and with another one scored by the guests at the beginning of the second part, it was clear that their appearance in this match wouldn’t bring them points.

Brentford is positioned at 2nd place in the general rankings, being only one point in deficit compared to the leaders from Norwich.

The guests keep missing injured central defender Jansson (14/0), midfielder Baptiste (1/0), forwards Marcondes (18/0), and Norgaard (4/0).
Two styles collide

It is clear that Brentford prefers an open match, with an accent on their front line, and I’m sure they’ll manage to break the opponents in this one. On the other side, they have an opponent that preferably stays in the back, and wait for the perfect chance via counters.

Opting for goals in this clash is seeming like a reasonable choice in my opinion, as even though the hosts are a less quality side, I am positive that they have the means to make this clash as interesting as it can get.

Tottenham vs Brentford

Tottenham is coming to this EFL Cup semi-finals after they routinely defeated Leeds last time out at home, outplaying them with a 3:0 result.
The hosts had the ball possession disadvantage but performed quite well via counters successfully taking the double lead from the penalty executed by Kane in the 29th and over Son Heung-Min later on during the first part.
A similar play was seen in the continuation, as the home side added one more to the scoreline in the 50th over Alderweireld while being able to keep their sheet clean for the rest of the clash.
Tottenham needed this victory to boost their morale, as they were on a four matches winless streak in the Premier League, currently occupying 4th place in the overall standings.
