Upset on the cards for Salford
Despite starting this season as one of the favourites for the League Two title, Salford sit 19th in the table. There’s more chance of their climb up the leagues being reversed than continuing this term.
Salford will take hope at how Bolton surged from midtable to win promotion after January last season, but by then their FA Cup run could be over. The visitors have lost five of six League Two trips this season, winning only once across eight away days in total this term.
On top of that, the visitors hardly have a stellar record in this competition. They needed extra-time to progress from the First Round last term – this year they’d be sent to a replay instead. Within 90 minutes, Salford have won just once in nine FA Cup games – a narrow win over lower-league Marine.
