Lille vs Reims

Lille did just enough in their last Ligue 1 match against underdogs from Nimes when they recorded a narrow 0:1 victory in an away match.
To be honest, both sides were pretty passive in this encounter, but the visitors did what was needed in the first part when they scored the only one in this clash over Yilmaz in the 29th minute. The rest of the match was not full of excitement, as both sides opted for a more defensive approach, so we were lucky to witness at least one goal being scored.
Lille, overly looking, is putting very good appearances this season, currently being at 3rd place, having only one point less than leading Lyon.

Waasland-Beveren vs Zulte-Waregem

Being in four matches winless momentum in the Jupiler league, Beveren is in desperate need of a positive result as soon as possible. Last time out, they were outplayed on the road against Standard, suffering a defeat with a 3:1 result.
Everything about this clash was already settled after the seventy-fourth minute when the hosts had a 3:0 advantage and even though the visitors managed to be effective once in the last minutes of the match via Wuytens, their overall appearance was nowhere near good enough for something more concrete, being leaky at the back.
Beveren is at playout leading 17th place, but if they improve their performances in the weeks to come, might have a chance to find their way to the safe zone.

Montpellier vs Monaco

Montpellier continues to be effective, but they are seemingly lacking that one thing that makes a difference between a victory and a loss. Currently, they are in five matches with winless momentum, last time at home against Nantes when they were held to a 1:1 draw.
They started the match in the best way possible, taking an early lead in the 6th minute over Oyongo, and successfully kept it up until the 51st when they conceded an equalizer. Even though they appeared slightly better, lack of creativity at the finishing cost them all three in this encounter.
Montpellier is at 8th place on the table, still being in a position to step into the European race, as they are only five points in deficit compared to fifth-placed Rennes.

Aris Salonika vs AEK Athens

Aris is coming to this clash after a 0:0 draw on the road against Giannina, in a match where they probably deserved a bit more.
They were pretty passive during the first part, but visibly appeared better in the second when they created several decent opportunities, unfortunately failing to be more creative at the finishing to put at least one to the scoreboard. It is worth mentioning that they managed to score in the 33rd minute of the first half, but the goal was disallowed when VAR stepped in.
Aris is currently at 2nd place in the overall standings, quite safe in the Championship Group part of the table, trying to keep the second position and not actually being in a situation to threaten Olympiacos.

Fortuna Sittard vs Sparta Rotterdam

Sittard positively surprised last time out against Heerenveen on the road when they come with a 1:3 victory, despite being considered as strong underdogs by the bookies.
They surprised the hosts with an effective approach, scoring as many as three goals during the first part, pretty much securing their victory here. The home side did take the initiative in the second part, but their attacks simply lacked more creativity, as they managed to be effective only once, not being in a position to completely return to the match.
Sittard, with this important victory, moved away from the red zone a bit, currently being at 12th place in the standings, but never the less caution is needed in matches to come.

Granada vs Osasuna

Granada expectedly lost to Barcelona last time out in LaLiga, with a convincing 0:4 result, playing at their home stadium.
They were not in a position to match the more quality visiting side, which had a 0:4 lead after the sixty-third minute of the match. Things to be worse, they were left with a player less since the 78th minute and their chances for at least a comforting one were diminished to zero.
Granada is positioned at 7th place in the standings, being in desperate need of a three-pointer if they want to stay in the race for a European exit.

Spezia vs Sampdoria

Spezia positively surprised in the last match against Napoli when they come with a 1:2 victory, playing away from home.
The hosts had the initiative and took the lead first in the 58th minute of the match, but the visitors responded in the best possible manner, as they leveled up from the penalty only ten minutes later.
Despite having a player less since the 77th, Spezia did manage to add another one to the scoreline in the 82nd and took this surprising victory in this encounter, as Napoli had chances but not being sharp enough with the ball possession.
They are currently at 16th spot in overall rankings, moved a bit from the danger zone with their latest result, which is only two points below.

The home side miss out goalkeeper Zoet (2/0), left-back Bastoni (9/0), and forward Galabinov (3/3) due to injuries. Suspended is defender Ismajli (4/0).

Sampdoria was able to bounce back after two consecutive defeats in Serie A, as they come with a surprising victory over Inter in the last round, defeating them with a 2:1 result, back at their home.

The visitors from Milan made a setback in the 12th minute when they missed a penalty, and as it usually goes, the hosts took the lead from the same situation in the 23rd minute. They did appear sharper with the ball in the first part and managed to effective one more time in the 38th, deservedly having a double lead after the first forty-five minutes.

Inter went all-in offensive as the match moved to the second, successfully reducing the deficit in the 65th, but failed to be sharper at the finishing for a complete comeback, maybe a bit undeservedly suffering a loss.

Sampdoria occupies 11th place on the table, quite safe from the danger zone, but not in a position to compete for European exit places.

Right-back Ferrari (5/0) is injured, as well as midfielder Silva (10/0) and forward Gabbiadini (3/0).
Both showed some improvement

As mentioned, both teams were victorious in their latest clashes, despite the odds not being in their favor, so carried with their latest achievements, I am expecting that both sides approach the upcoming match having a high expectations.

They are more than capable to be dangerous against each other, they were against far superior teams, and I expect both of them to enter this game with the offense in mind, as it’s definitely a clash during which both teams can gain something.

Beerschot Wilrijk vs Gent

Beerschot is currently having some difficulties in the Jupiler League, as they were unable to record a positive result in the last four matches played.
Last time out, they suffered yet another loss, this time on the road to St. Truiden with a minimal result. The match itself was more or less a balanced one, with both sides being pretty much equal in every game’s aspect, but the hosts proved to be a bit sharper with the ball to their feet, as they scored the only goal in this encounter in the 41st minute over Suzuki.
The visitors did try with a more aggressive approach in the second, but their attacks lacked the creativity to do something more. Beerschot is currently at play-off 7th place, but they need to improve their appearances as soon as possible if they want to stay in that race.

Oostende vs Charleroi

Oostende did their job in the last match against Leuven when they justified the role of a slight favorite and recorded a 1:2 away victory after a complete reversal.
They went on a break with a 1:0 deficit but approached more offensively as the match moved to the second and managed to level up in the 59th over Theate. They continued to put some pressure on the opponent’s defense which crumbled in the 72nd when Ngawa scored an own goal and set the final result in this encounter.
Oostende is at 10th spot in the standings, still in a race for the Europan exit places, as only a point separates them and play-off placed Kortjirk.

Rio Ave vs Portimonense

Rio Ave is struggling with their performances in Primeira, not being able to escape from a defeat in the last three matches. Last Sunday evening, they suffered a loss on the road to Ferreira with a 2:0 result.
Despite having the ball to their feet, the visitors looked passive in this encounter, not being in a position to attack more frequently. They went on a break with a 1:0 deficit, and even though appeared slightly better in the second, attacks lacked creativity. In the 56th minute, the guests conceded another one over Tanque, who was effective in the first part as well.
Rio Ave is appearing poorly this season, having only eleven points out of twelve matches, currently being at playout leading 16th spot on the table.
