Espanyol vs Fuenlabrada

Espanyol justified the role of a favorite squad last time out on the road to Castellon, as they were able to record a routine 1:3 victory.

They had some problems at the begging when they conceded from the penalty in the 13th, but responded in the best possible manner, leveling up the score in the 32nd over Lopez. The guests gained a numerical advantage on the field, just a few minutes later, and pretty much had a clear path to the three-pointer. Darder stood out in the 42nd and the 49th minute and brought his team a valuable victory.

Currently, Espanyol holds the leading spot, but the race between them and Mallorca and Almeria is really begging to heat up.

Right defender Miguelon Llambrich (19/0) is more of a long-term absentee already now. Two positive cases are reported last night, without specifying whether these correspond to players of club’s staff.

Fuenlabrada made a great appearance in the last round at home when they managed to prove the bookies wrong and defeat Mallorca with a convincing 4:1 result.

They started the match furiously, scoring as many as three during the first part, and logically lowered the rhythm in the continuation. Favored guests only succeeded in reducing to 3:1 in the 56th, but the hosts removed all questions with another one in the last twenty minutes, and deservedly took all three in this encounter.

Fuenlabrada is at 9th spot on the table, being seven points in deficit compared to the playoff-placed Rayo Vallecano.

The guests should have no fresh injury worries for this one.
Goals are expected

Judging by their latest appearances and overall effectiveness this season, these two will most likely put up with quite a show on Thursday afternoon. With their offensive style of play, it is very difficult to see a passive encounter, and in my opinion, Fuenlabarada definitely isn’t coming to sit back and wait.

Austria vs Denmark

The Austrians met the expectations last time out at home against underdogs from the Faroe Islands, as they routinely outplayed them with a 3:1 result.
The hosts found themselves in deficit since the 19th minute, but with great persistency and sharpness at the finishing, scored three in the 30th, 37th, and 44th minute, and created an unreachable advantage.
In the continuation, the Austrians controlled the match but didn’t show too much interest to increase their lead, so the result remained unchanged till the end of the encounter.
Austrians miss defender Wober (6/0), midfielders Zulj (11/0, Goztepe), Jantscher (23/1, Sturm), Bamugartlinger (82/1, Leverkusen), and forward Arnautovic (87/26, Shanghai) compared to previous call-up.

Slovakia vs Russia

Slovakia disappointed again in their second match of World Cup qualifiers when they took just a point in a 2:2 home draw against underdogs from Malta.
They showed very little creativity during the first part and were caught up by surprise, conceding two in the 16th and the 20th minute. Luckily, the hosts pulled themselves together in the continuation, visibly appearing better on the field, reducing over Strelec in the 49th, and leveling up just four minutes later when Skriniar was effective.
Overly looking, the Slovaks missed a great opportunity for three points, and now have two draws behind them since the begging of the campaign.
Slovakia will miss defender Gyomber (28/0, Salernitana), Vavro (11/1, Huesca), Mazan (11/0, Karvina), midfielders Stoch (60/6, Zaglebie Lubin), Sabo (18/0, Rizespor), and forward Safranko (10/0, Sepsi).

Fuenlabrada vs Mallorca prediction

Fuenlabrada positively surprised last time on the road to Leganes when they come with a 0:2 victory despite being considered as an underdog by the bookie’s side.
They had the ball possession disadvantage during the whole clash but used their small number of chances with high efficiency, scoring two during the second part over Cristobal and Pulido, while being able to keep their sheet clean, as the home side didn’t stand out too much in the offense.
They did great on counters, as Fuenlabrada is at the 13th spot on the table, at a safe distance from the danger zone, but not in a position to compete for higher playoff places, at least for now.
The home side misses defender Valentin (13/0), plus midfielders Aguado (12/0) and Feuilassier (29/1) and forwards Salvador (22/2), Kante (27/2) and Gassama (8/5).

Ukraine vs Finland

Ukraine can be satisfied with their opening match on the road against France, as they managed to come with a 1:1 draw, despite being a strong underdog.
They conceded early in the 19th minute over Griezmann and overly looking showed almost nothing during this encounter, but still had great fighting spirit against a much stronger rival.
However, they were lucky enough to level up later on in the 57th when Kimpembe had the misfortune of deflecting the shoot into his net. This surely comes as a valuable point, but it had to be said the Ukrainians took it undeservedly.

Serbia vs Portugal

Serbia opened their World Cup campaign in the best possible manner, as they managed to get a win over them with a 3:2 result last Wednesday in Belgrade.
They had some difficulties at the start, as they conceded in the 18th minute, but managed to level up in the last minutes of the first part after a goal scored by Vlahovic. The hosts appeared much sharper at the finish when the match moved to the second, successfully scoring two more over Mitrovic in the 69th and the 75th minute, showing that they need very little to be threatening when needed.
However, they provided the Irish with a chance for a comeback when they conceded a goal in the 86th after a rookie mistake of the defense, but luckily, the guests didn’t have the strength for another one.

Sporting Gijon vs Alcorcon

Gijon failed to meet the expectations last time on the road to Sabadell when they come with a 1:1 draw, clearly lacking a bit more sharpness at the finishing.
They conceded first from the penalty in the 23rd, but approached the second part visibly in a more aggressive manner and successfully leveled up over Djurdjevic in the 54th minute, unfortunately, not being creative enough for something more despite several nice chances till the end.
Gijon is at 5th spot in the standings, being six points in deficit compared to Espanyol and a directly promotional 2nd place.
Midfielder Garcia (26/1) and striker Djurdjevic (29/20) are missing out on international duty. Midfielder Fuego (28/0) is suspended.

Hungary vs Poland

Hungarians left the impression of quite a dangerous nation last time they were called-up, as they managed to take the first spot in the group shared with Serbia, Turkey, and Russia during the UEFA Nations League competition.
Their road to the World Cup in 2022 is a bit more difficult, as they are drawn in the group with England, Poland, Albania, San Marino, and Andorra, but never the less, with their distinctive offensive approach, they should be able to cause problems even in matches when their victory is questionable, usually not defending and trying to score a goal more.
The Hungarians will miss defender Bese (23/0, Leuven), Korhut (21/1, Debrecen), midfielder Szoboszlai (12/3, Leipzig) and forward Gyurcso (20/3, Osijek) compared to previous invitations.

Blackpool vs Peterboroug

Blackpool did a great job in the last round on the road to Oxford United when they took a 0:2 victory, showing some decent improvement in the offense.
They opened the match in a more aggressive manner and deservedly scored two during the first part over Dougall and Ballard.
The continuation brought us a very dynamic performance from both sides, as they were trying their best to be effective, but they needed to be a bit sharper at the finishing for us to witness more goals being added to the scoreline in this encounter.
Blackpoll occupies the 10th spot in the general standings, being three points in deficit compared to the playoff placed Charlton, but also having four matches played less.

Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Bochum

Dusseldorf failed to justify the role of a favorite side last time out on the road to Sandhausen when they come with a goalless draw game, but it had to be said that they deserved more.
From the start, the guests were by far a more aggressive side, creating several nice opportunities in both parts of the match, but lacked that one more thing at the finishing to do something more concrete here, definitely deserving more.
They are currently at 6th spot in the general standings, having six points less than playoff placed Greuther Furth before the start of this round.
