Montpellier positively surprised in the last round against much favored Lyon, as they recorded a 1:2 victory, playing in an away match.
They took the lead first in the 20th minute over Savanier, but the home side put some pressure during the first part and managed to level up just before halftime. However, the visitors showed great determination and a greater desire for victory, as despite having the ball possession disadvantage in the second, used their chances with higher efficiency and set the final score with a goal in the 65th over Wahi.
Montpellier is positioned at 9th place in the standings, having only three points less than European-placed Rennes.

Lyon vs Montpellier

Lyon had an easy job in the last round of Ligue 1 against underdogs from Strasbourg when they routinely defeated them with a 3:0 result, back at their home.
Already superior hosts, gain a numerical advantage in the 14th minute and scored two with ease before the halftime whistle. Logically, they had complete control when the match moved to the second and managed to be effective one more time in the 68th, second via Depay, and continued their winning momentum.
Lyon holds 2nd place in the overall standings, being only two points in deficit compared to the leaders from Lille.

Montpellier vs Monaco

Montpellier continues to be effective, but they are seemingly lacking that one thing that makes a difference between a victory and a loss. Currently, they are in five matches with winless momentum, last time at home against Nantes when they were held to a 1:1 draw.
They started the match in the best way possible, taking an early lead in the 6th minute over Oyongo, and successfully kept it up until the 51st when they conceded an equalizer. Even though they appeared slightly better, lack of creativity at the finishing cost them all three in this encounter.
Montpellier is at 8th place on the table, still being in a position to step into the European race, as they are only five points in deficit compared to fifth-placed Rennes.
